Zaine

The drawer unit behind Zaine squealed, and it was that sound, its legs scraping across the floor, that startled Zaine from the spiraling madness in his head. Eric. Beautiful Eric, brave Eric, was doing this for him, and it couldn’t happen. Zaine roared his frustration at seeing Eric so used, seeing everything he wanted to do with him and having it all denied.

Then Sebastien’s teeth opened a vein. The scent of Eric’s sweet blood filled the air, and Zaine’s humanity slid sideways, surrendering to the beast inside. Zaine knew only that he had to get Sebastien away from Eric, because Eric belonged to Zaine.

The dresser’s feet squealed across the floor again. Zaine pulled harder, fighting the chains, the clips used to secure them, and the drawers holding him down. Eric’s gasp lit him up. Sebastien rocked with him and latched on, feeding, his hand pumping on Eric’s cock as his teeth pierced his neck.

The roar that tore from Zaine was something from before time, some dark, primordial piece of him he always knew was there but rarely saw. Wood shattered, the drawers splintering apart and the chains scattering as links exploded. Zaine flew at Sebastien’s back, gripped the back of his skull and shoulder, and opened his mouth wide to plunge in for the fatal bite. But Sebastien twisted as he tore free of Eric’s neck, ripping open a savage wound.

Eric’s eyes blew wide.

The part of Zaine that cared watched in horror as blood splattered far and wide. But that part was no longer in control. All Zaine cared about was killing Sebastien, ripping his fucking head off if he could. Sebastien twisted again and thrust an elbow back with the force of a sledgehammer, slamming into him. Zaine rocked on his feet. Sebastien’s teeth snapped together too close to his neck. Oh, fuck no. With a right hook, Zaine hit that son of a bitch so hard his face buckled. Sebastien flew sideways, slamming against the wall.

Zaine went for his throat again—teeth bared, dripping venom—but Sebastien moved, and his bite sank deep into Sebastien’s shoulder. Venom flowed, pumping not into a vein but inside flesh. Madness and bloodlust blinded Zaine to everything but the desire to kill.

Sebastien let loose, roaring and bucking, desperate to shake Zaine off. He spun, then flung them both to the floor, tangled, crushing Zaine under him. Fireworks of pain danced through Zaine’s body, bones breaking, but his teeth stayed fixed, venom pumping deep into Sebastien.

The killing rush consumed everything. Zaine’s every heartbeat, his every breath, every working muscle, beat and pumped and pushed to end Sebastien.

That was until he caught a glimpse of Eric sprawled on his back on the bed. Just a glimmer in the corner of Zaine’s eye, but a flicker of panic hooked in.

Eric was in trouble.

Zaine tore free of Sebastien—the vampire lay beneath him breathing fast, his struggles fading, venom running free through his body. It would have to be enough.

Zaine scrambled off him and dashed for the bed. “Eric… fuck, no.
